The College is able to offer a wide range of GCSE and A-level curriculum options, ensuring a balance between academic and sporting life. In addition to the traditional A-level curriculum route, the College is also able to offer a market-leading vocational curriculum with Sport Science: the BTEC Extended Diploma, this offers a dedicated sports education recognised by leading universities.
St Joseph’s College is uniquely placed to facilitate progression of able students to some of the UK’s top Higher Education institutions for Sport, with a proven track record of 100% pass rate and entrants into Bath, Loughborough and Hartpury, to name but a few.
Xplore is an experienced and trusted provider of study abroad programmes that include academic year placements, homestay guardianship and short-term language programmes. We pride ourselves on being able to support each individual student as they take on the challenges that life and education can bring. Furthermore, the College has an outstanding pastoral system to provide constant support and guidance. Working together, students and Xplore will regularly meet with Darren Eadie, the Academy Manager and Anthony O’Riordan, the College’s Assistant Principal - Director of Sport, to discuss students’ progress, ambitions and performance both on and off the field.
The programme runs as a Football Academy, whereby players are enrolled at high performing boarding school whilst receiving first class coaching from former Premier League players and UEFA licensed coaches.
Training and Studying: Academy students will have a bespoke academic plan in place, enabling them to have timetabled lessons in line with their training needs. Students will be expected to keep up with the training requirements, whilst maintaining focus and effort on their studies.
Strength and Conditioning: St Joseph’s College has full time staff within the Sports Department to support students’ physical development in line with expectations. Academy students will benefit from the recently opened multi-million pound sports facilities, which includes a fitness suite, with state-of-the-art, cardiovascular and fixed resistance equipment.
Mentoring: The College’s Sport Department has a wealth of experience in professional sport and is primed to support the mental and technical aspects of the game through performance profiling and analysis in partnership with Suffolk University. The College has access to ‘Game Break’ software and is able to facilitate individual and team video analysis.
Following their time at the St Joseph’s International Football Academy there are a number of ways in which the students can continue their footballing and/or educational development.
Alternatively students can look to continue with their education in the UK by applying for universities and possibly gaining football scholarships.
